Why Hire A Certified Resume Writer?

Certified Professional Resume Writer

I used to prepare my own tax returns. I figured I had pretty good math skills and I knew lots of other people who did their own returns so why should I pay a CPA to do what I could do myself for free. The whole process seemed pretty straightforward and besides, a CPA doesn't know me or my finances so how could they do a better job? Then I married a CPA and discovered how wrong I was. I simply didn't have the knowledge of the tax code or the skills necessary to do a proper job. I thought I knew what I was doing but I didn't know enough. I didn't know the intricacies of the process and, as a result, I lost much more money in missed deductions than the services of a CPA would have cost.

It's the same with a resume. Sure, you can do your own resume and save money. Lots of people write their own resumes. You can even copy a format off the Web or purchase a $20 resume program and produce an adequate document. But is adequate good enough? Will your document position you ahead of your competition? That's where a Certified Professional Resume Writer (CPRW) enters the picture.

Most people find it difficult to write about themselves. On paper, they either come across too strong and arrogant or they appear self-conscious and timid. In addition, when you write about yourself, it's easy to get bogged-down in too much unnecessary detail . . . something you want to avoid on a resume. A CPRW offers an objective viewpoint and knows how to draw out the important aspects of your background. A CPRW also knows how to present this information to achieve maximum effect. Perhaps you're dealing with negatives in your background (older worker, job-hopping, employment gaps, lack of college degree). A CPRW knows how to address these issues and countless others.

To achieve the designation of Certified Professional Resume Writer, an individual must be a member of the Professional Association of Resume Writers and submit to a rigorous qualification process. He/she must demonstrate knowledge, talent, and experience as a resume writer, pass a tough examination, and submit several samples of his/her work for review by a panel of judges.

It's pretty easy to figure out if your resume needs work. If you're targeting positions for which you know you're qualified but aren't getting interviews, you can bet it's your resume. A CPRW can help you open the interview doors.

I'm a charter member of the Professional Association of Resume Writers. I earned the designation of  Certified Professional Resume Writer in 1992 and have helped 1,000's of people reach their career goals. I'd be happy to help you do the same. Read more about my services.
